今天，长春风清气爽，吉外高朋满座。我们在这里隆重举行吉林外国语大学高质量发展推进会暨建校30周年庆祝大会。首先，我代表学校，向莅临大会的各位领导、各位嘉宾表示最热烈的欢迎！向长期以来给予学校关心、支持和帮助的各级领导、各界人士、各兄弟院校和海外友人表示最衷心的感谢！向全校师生员工、海内外校友致以最诚挚的祝贺！
Today, with clear skies and refreshing breezes in Changchun, JISU is honored to welcome distinguished guests from near and far. We are gathered here for the Conference on Advancing High-Quality Development of Jilin International Studies University and the 30th Anniversary Celebration of JISU. First of all, on behalf of the university, I would like to extend the warmest welcome to all the leaders and guests. I also wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders, friends from all sectors of society, our peer institutions, and international friends who have long cared for and supported our university. I also wish to express my warmest congratulations to all faculty, staff, and students, as well as our alumni at home and abroad.
卅载砺初心，世纪绽芳华。学校伴随上个世纪90年代改革开放的春风孕育而生，30年来，历经三次搬迁、三次更名，取得累累硕果，实现了一个又一个跨越。自创办以来，我们矢志不渝做中国民办高等教育事业发展的先行者、探路者。学校是第一所捐资办学的民办高校，是唯一一所省级重点建设的民办高校，是国务院办公厅确定的唯一承担国家教育体制改革试点任务的民办高校，是第一所获批硕士学位授予单位的民办高校，是第一所更名为大学的民办高校，也是第一批获评全国文明校园的民办高校。学校还相继入选吉林省特色高水平应用型大学（A类）建设单位和博士学位授予单位A+立项建设高校。学校连续6年位居软科中国民办大学排行榜第一。去年，省委书记黄强同志莅临学校调研指导，称赞“吉林有这样一所好学校，是吉林的自豪和骄傲”。进入新世纪，历任教育部部长均莅临学校考察调研，对学校事业发展给予充分肯定。可以说，学校以实际行动和办学业绩，书写了办学治校、立德树人的精彩华章。
Founded in the 1990s during China’s reform and opening-up, our university has, over the past thirty years, experienced three name changes and three relocations—each time advancing by leaps and bounds and reaping rich achievements. Since day one, we have upheld our founding mission: to serve as pioneers and pathfinders in the rise of China’s private higher education. We are the first private university to donate our assets to the society; the only private institution designated as a provincial key university; the only private institution to be renamed a “university”; among the first batch of private universities to be recognized as National Civilized Campuses; the university has been selected as a Category-A builder for Jilin Province’s High-Level Application-oriented Universities project and an A+ candidate for doctoral degree authorization. It has been ranking first in Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of China’s private universities for six consecutive years from 2020 to 2025. We are the first private university to donate our assets to the society; the only private institution designated as a provincial key university; the sole private university designated by the General Office of the State Council to undertake the national pilot program for educational system reform; the first private university approved to confer master’s degrees; the only private institution to be renamed a “university”; among the first batch of private universities to be recognized as National Civilized Campuses; the university has been selected as a Category-A builder for Jilin Province’s High-Level Application-oriented Universities project and an A+ candidate for doctoral degree authorization. It has been ranking first in Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of China’s private universities for six consecutive years from 2020 to 2025. Last year, Secretary Huang Qiang of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee visited our university, remarking, “Having such a fine university in Jilin is the province’s pride and joy.” Since the turn of the new century, successive Ministers of Education have visited our university for inspections, giving full recognition to our development. It is fair to say that, through concrete actions and outstanding educational outcomes, the university has written a splendid chapter in school-running and in fulfilling the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education.
各位领导、各位嘉宾、各位校友、老师们、同学们，30年的办学成就来之不易，学校成长和发展的每一个历史瞬间，都值得铭记和感恩。抚今追昔，饮水思源。我们永远铭记，改革开放这个伟大时代，为学校事业发展提供了千载难逢的宝贵机遇；我们深深致谢，教育部、中联部及国家相关部委的关怀和指导，为学校发展注入了不竭动力；我们倍加珍惜，吉林省委省政府、长春市委市政府的倾力扶持与政策赋能，为学校发展提供了坚实保障；我们由衷感恩，国内外兄弟院校的守望相助、倾囊相授与经验共享，为学校发展汇聚了资源、拓宽了空间；我们更难忘怀，4万余名海内外校友的赤子深情与智慧奉献，你们既是母校成长的见证者，更是并肩奋斗的同路人，始终是吉外发展壮大的坚强后盾。同时，我们要特别致敬每一位吉外人，是你们以同心同向、百折不挠的接力奋斗，书写了最动人的吉外篇章。正是这些跨越山海的支持与并肩奋斗的力量，让吉外在风雨兼程中底气更足、在爬坡过坎时韧性更强，始终绽放出蓬勃的生机与希望。

The achievements we have made over the past thirty years did not come easily, and every historic moment in our university’s growth is worthy of remembrance and gratitude. As we reflect on the present and recall the past, we remain true to our original aspiration. The great era of reform and opening-up created invaluable opportunities for our university. We express our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Education, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and relevant national departments for their care and guidance, which have provided inexhaustible momentum for our development. We deeply appreciate the strong support and enabling policies of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and the Jilin Provincial People’s Government, as well as the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and the Changchun Municipal People’s Government, which have offered a solid guarantee for our progress. We are also grateful to our peer institutions at home and abroad for their mutual support, generous sharing, and exchange of experience, which have pooled valuable resources and broadened the horizons of our university’s development.We are deeply moved by the affection and contributions of our more than 40,000 alumni across the country and around the world. You have not only witnessed your Alma Mater’s growth--you have journeyed alongside us, standing as steadfast pillars supporting the development and expansion of JISU. We also pay special tribute to every member of the JISU community. It is your indomitable perseverance that has penned the most stirring chapters of our story. It is this support that bridges mountains and seas, and this strength of standing shoulder to shoulder, that has given JISU greater confidence in fair weather and foul, and greater resilience in the face of challenges--allowing our university to radiate enduring vitality and hope.
各位领导、各位嘉宾、各位校友、老师们、同学们，30年来，我们始终厚植教育情怀，一直思考如何站在党和国家事业发展全局的战略高度，立足国情省情，探索一条具有中国特色的民办大学发展道路。
Leaders, guests, alumni, teachers, and students,
Over the past thirty years, we have remained deeply committed to the cause of education, continually reflecting on how to view our mission from the strategic height of the overarching development of the Party and the country. Grounded in China’s national conditions and the realities of our province, we have explored a development path for private universities with distinct Chinese characteristics.
基于这一信念，我们高度重视顶层设计。办学之初，我们就一次性规划30年，一张蓝图绘到底，始终践行“一切为了学生成人、成才、成功”的办学理念、“以学生为中心，办最负责任教育”的教育理念和“学好外国语，做好中国人，讲好中国故事”的育人理念，着力服务“一带一路”倡议和吉林全面振兴。
Guided by this vision, we have always prioritized top-level design. From day one, we charted a thirty-year blueprint and implemented it to the letter. We have steadfastly practiced our philosophy of “doing everything for students to grow, excel, and succeed”, our educational principle of “student-centeredness and the most responsible education”, and our formative ideal of “mastering foreign languages, remaining rooted in the Chinese identity, and telling China’s stories well”. We have devoted ourselves to advancing, in an all-round way, both the Belt and Road Initiative and the revitalization of Jilin Province.
基于这一信念，我们十分注重创新实践。我们始终彰显教育的政治属性，坚持立德树人，致力于办一所社会主义大学；始终秉持教育的人民属性，坚持非营利性办学，致力于办一所泽被后人的百年名校；始终把握教育的战略属性，坚守应用型定位，坚持精品办学，走国际化办学道路，致力于办一所特色鲜明的高水平外国语大学。在30年的办学实践中，学校为国家和社会培养了一大批高素质、高层次、高水平的应用型、复合型、外向型外语外事人才。
Guided by this vision, we champion innovation in practice. We stress the political attributes of education, uphold moral cultivation as our core mission, and strive to build a university with socialist characteristics. Staying people-centered and non-profit, we aim to create a century-old institution that benefits generations to come. Recognizing education’s strategic role, we are moving with determination toward becoming a leading non-profit, application-oriented, high-profile foreign language university with distinctive strengths and a global outlook. Over the past thirty years, we have trained a large cohort of applied, cross-disciplinary, globally minded, high-performing talent in foreign languages and foreign affairs for the nation and the broader community.
基于这一信念，我们始终深耕大学精神的培育与传承。三十载求索开拓的足迹、砥砺奋进的辉煌，早已凝结为全体师生引以为傲的精神坐标。在这里，有“公益精神”的源头活水，有“会通中外、砺志敦材”的校训精神，有“公益、创业、治学、桥梁”的价值引领，更有“天下大事必从细而做”的文化特质作为品格底色。这些在岁月长河中沉淀的精神瑰宝，激励着一代又一代吉外人赓续奋斗、一往无前，朝着百年名校的梦想坚定前行。
It is in this same spirit that we have remained dedicated to cultivating and carrying forward the university ethos. The footprints of three decades of exploration and pioneering, and the brilliance forged through persistent endeavor, have crystallized into a spiritual compass that our faculty and students proudly uphold. Drawing from the living wellspring of the “spirit of public good,” we embody the ethos of our motto--“Building Cultures and Cultivating Global Talents”; we are guided by the values of “public good, entrepreneurship, scholarship, and bridge-building”; and at our core, we are defined by a cultural conviction that “great undertakings are accomplished through meticulous attention to detail”. These principles, tempered over time, inspire generations of JISU members to carry the torch forward and to pursue the vision of a century-old, world‑class university.
回望过去，我们感慨万千，豪情满怀；展望未来，我们心潮澎湃，充满希望。正如习近平总书记在党的二十大报告中深刻指出的：“教育、科技、人才是全面建设社会主义现代化国家的基础性、战略性支撑。”站在中华民族伟大复兴战略全局与世界百年未有之大变局的交汇点，当前及今后一个时期，既是国家发展的重要战略机遇期，更是吉林外国语大学乘势而上、跨越发展的黄金期。我们更加清晰地认识到：民办教育的使命从未改变，服务国家战略的需求更加迫切，培养造就“会语言、通文化、精技术、有思想”的时代新人的责任愈发厚重。时代的召唤与战略的机遇，为学校迈向更高质量发展注入了强劲动力。
Looking back on our journey, we are filled with profound emotion and soaring pride; looking ahead, our hearts surge with excitement and hope. As General Secretary Xi Jinping stated in his report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China: “Education, science and technology, and talent are the foundational and strategic pillars for building a modern socialist country in all respects.” Standing at the intersection of the grand strategy for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the unprecedented changes in the world unseen in a century, the present--and the period ahead--constitutes not only a major strategic window of opportunity for our country’s development, but also a golden period for Jilin International Studies University to ride the momentum and achieve leapfrog growth. We have come to a clearer understanding that the mission of private education has never changed; the need to serve national strategies is more urgent; and the responsibility to cultivate a new generation--proficient in languages, conversant with cultures, skilled in technologies, and grounded in thought--has grown even heavier. The call of our times and the opportunities afforded by national strategy are injecting powerful momentum into the university’s drive toward higher-quality development.
奋进未来，三十而立再出发，我们将继承发扬吉外的优良传统，始终不忘初心，坚持为党育人、为国育才，聚焦立德树人根本任务，推动“专业主体办学”向“学科引领办学”格局性转变，共同答好“培养什么人、怎样培养人、为谁培养人”的时代之问，全力以赴办好党和人民满意的教育。
Striding into the future on our thirtieth anniversary, we set off anew. We will carry forward JISU’s fine traditions, remain true to our original aspiration, and stay committed to fostering virtue through education for the Party and cultivating talent for the nation. Centered on the fundamental task of fostering character and nurturing people, we will drive a structural transformation from “profession-centered schooling” to a “discipline-led model,” and work together to answer the questions of our times--whom to cultivate, how to cultivate them, and for whom we cultivate them. With unwavering resolve, we will deliver education that meets the expectations of the Party and the people.
奋进未来，三十而立再出发，我们将牢记使命、争做标杆，全面推进科研创新能力、国际化办学能力“两个提升”；深入构建学科体系、学术体系、话语体系“三大体系”，在服务国家、区域战略需求中推动事业高质量发展；构建更完善、更有效、更可持续的支持体系，重点培育科研创新人才、跨域融合型人才、高层次领军人才、战略性智库人才“四类人才”；深耕特色发展领域，重点推进民办教育、智慧翻译、语言服务、传播吉林、咨政建言“五大品牌”建设，全力朝着建设“精品、非营利、应用型、国际化、特色鲜明的高水平外国语大学”目标接续奋斗，为中国民办高等教育发展与教育强国建设作出新的更大贡献！
We will keep our mission firmly in mind and strive to set the benchmark. We will comprehensively advance two key enhancements--strengthening our capacity for scientific research and innovation, and elevating our capacity for internationalized education. We will deepen the development of three systems--disciplinary, academic, and discourse systems--and drive high-quality growth by serving national and regional strategic needs. We will also build a more complete, more effective, and more sustainable support system, with a focused effort to cultivate four categories of talent: researchers and innovators, cross-domain integrators, high-level leaders, and strategic think-tank experts. We will cultivate our distinctive areas of development and prioritize the construction of five signature brands: private education, intelligent translation, language services, promoting Jilin’s story, and policy advice and consultation. With full resolve, we will press toward our goal of building a a leading non-profit, application-oriented and high-profile foreign language university with salient features and global perspectives--making new and greater contributions to the development of China’s private higher education and to the endeavor of building China into a leading country in education.
各位领导、各位嘉宾、各位校友、老师们、亲爱的同学们，大学是时代的缩影，是时代的先声，更是时代的引领。无论时代如何变化，一所大学的发展与成长，都离不开国家繁荣昌盛的保驾护航。同时，大学也肩负着促进国家发展繁荣和民族伟大复兴的历史重任。值此美好时刻，让我们共同祝福我们伟大的祖国！期待我们共同绘就新时代吉外再攀高峰的恢宏篇章！
A university mirrors its era, gives voice to its era, and helps lead its era. Whatever changes the times may bring, the growth and development of any university are inseparable from the strong safeguard of a prosperous and thriving nation. At the same time, universities shoulder the historic mission of advancing national development, contributing to prosperity, and furthering the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. On this joyful occasion, let us extend our heartfelt blessings to our great motherland and, together, look forward to composing a majestic new chapter as JISU reaches new heights in the new era.
